About Sanglaj Publication

Motto
Books Connect the Intellectual Heritage of Earlier Generations to the Knowledge of Future Generations

Brand Philosophy
SanglajPress serves as a bridge between the written and intellectual heritage of the past and future generations. We believe that books preserve the historical memory of nations and provide an enduring means by which knowledge, culture, and ideas are transmitted from one generation to the next. Every scholarly work continues a conversation begun by earlier generations and carried forward by those yet to come. Publishing is therefore not merely a cultural profession, but a commitment to preserving heritage, advancing knowledge, and sustaining scholarly dialogue across generations.

About Sanglaj PressSanglaj
is the name of one of the oldest historic neighbourhoods of Tehran, the capital of Iran. For generations, this quarter was home to many distinguished scholars, religious leaders, and cultural figures whose enduring contributions enriched Iran's intellectual and cultural heritage. The choice of this name for the Press is a tribute to that remarkable legacy and reflects our commitment to preserving, promoting, and advancing Iran's scholarly, historical, and cultural traditions. The idea of establishing Sanglaj Press was conceived in the summer of 1996 through the initiative of Dr. Moshkan Mashkour, with planning and organisation by Dr. Seyed Saeed Mir-Mohammad Sadegh. Efforts to obtain the publishing licence continued until 1998. Although the licence was granted, the realisation of the original vision was postponed owing to professional and academic commitments.During the 2010s, Sanglaj Press published five titles. Since 2022, the Press has renewed and expanded its activities with a clear commitment to identifying, supporting, publishing, and promoting scholarly works in the fields of Iranian Studies and Islamic Civilisation and Culture. All manuscripts submitted to Sanglaj Press undergo academic review by specialist advisers. Upon their approval, accepted works are incorporated into the Press's publishing programme and prepared for publication in a timely manner while maintaining the highest standards of scholarly excellence and publishing practice. The emblem of Sanglaj Press is inspired by the brickwork and geometric ornamentation of the Jameh Mosque of Isfahan. Its four open books and four pens symbolise reflection, thought, writing, and publishing, while also evoking the concept of the Chaharsu—the traditional four-way crossroads at the heart of Iranian bazaars, where streets converge and ideas, culture, and commerce meet. In our understanding, a publishing house is itself a cultural Chaharsu: a place where authors, scholars, books, and readers come together in a shared exchange of knowledge and ideas. From a semiotic perspective, the emblem's symmetrical and converging composition expresses unity in diversity. The movement of its four elements towards a common centre symbolises the convergence of reflection, thought, writing, and publishing in the creation and transmission of knowledge. At the same time, its overall form evokes a flower in bloom—a timeless symbol of growth, flourishing, and the continuity of culture.MissionSanglaj Press is dedicated to fostering rigorous scholarship and advancing meaningful dialogue on the history, culture, languages, religions, and intellectual traditions of Iran and the broader Islamic world through the publication of works of enduring academic value
